Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, chair of the House Democratic Caucus, said on Wednesday that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
Jeffries said in a statement that he was not symptomatic but was isolating and working from home. The positive PCR test result came during routine testing in Washington, according to the statement.
“Most importantly, I am grateful to be vaccinated and boosted,” Jeffries said, encouraging others to continue to seek vaccinations.
Several high-profile officials have tested positive for Covid in recent weeks, including Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden’s top medical adviser and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
