  • Trump has said he made up his mind about his 2024 presidential bid.
  • Sen. Rick Scott said GOP voters are more concerned with the economy rather than Trump ahead of the midterms.
  • “I tell people all the time we got to continue to focus to win this November,” Scott said.

Sen. Rick Scott said Republican voters are concerned with inflation rather than former President Donald Trump during the upcoming midterm election.

“This year is going to be a referendum on Biden, it’s pretty simple,” Scott told Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream.

Scott responded to a question on whether an announcement by former President Donald Trump to run for president in 2024 would “upend” the midterm elections for Republicans.

“It’s not going to be about ’24, it’s going to be about ’22,” Scott said. “I tell people all the time we got to continue to focus to win this November. We have every reason to believe we can win.”

Trump has previously said that he’s made up his mind about running in 2024 and said the big decision for him now is whether or not he announces his third bid for office before or after the midterm elections.

“Well, in my own mind, I’ve already made that decision, so nothing factors in anymore. In my own mind, I’ve already made that decision,” Trump told New York Magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi in an interview.

Scott said the midterms will “be about food prices and gas prices and the Democrats wanting to defund the police, critical race theory, things like that. It’s going to be about three issues: inflation, my kids getting a good education, and I live in a safe community.”
