- A special grand jury convened in Georgia to look into Trump’s efforts to overturn election results.
- Norm Eisen, a former White House counsel, told CNN that it’s likely that Trump will be prosecuted.
- Eisen said there was “particularly strong evidence” of Trump’s wrongdoing.
Former President Donald Trump could be prosecuted in Georgia for his efforts to overturn the state’s election results in the 2020 election, a former White House counsel told CNN.
Norm Eisen told CNN on Sunday, that it’s likely that Trump will be prosecuted because of “particularly strong evidence.”
“I think the evidence is particularly strong for a prosecution in the state of Georgia, where the Atlanta DA has convened a special grand jury,” Eisen said.
In January, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis asked for a special grand jury to help her office investigate Trump’s efforts to overturn election results in the state. The grand jury convened last month.

In a January 2021 phone call, Trump pleaded with Raffensperger to help him overturn the election results, but the Secretary of State refused.
Trump has repeatedly attacked Raffensperger in the aftermath of the election, and has recently endorsed Raffensperger’s challenger in the Georgia Secretary of State GOP Primary. Trump said he was shocked when Raffensperger won.
Eisen also noted that since the House Jan. 6 committee convened its public hearings last week, the evidence presented may assist the Atlanta DA’s case.
“And we have that tape of Trump saying to [Georgia’s] Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, also expected to be a witness in these hearings, ‘Secretary Raffensperger, just find 11,780 votes that don’t exist,” he said.
