  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II launches on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on October 28 for $70.

  • Players who preorder will get early access to the game’s open beta test and more rewards.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, the next entry in Activision’s smash-hit series of first-person shooters, launches worldwide on October 28 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Longtime fans of the franchise will remember the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 released in 2009, but this new game isn’t a remake. Instead, it’s a brand-new sequel to the 2019 reboot of the Modern Warfare series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will include a single player campaign, a cooperative special ops mode, and all of the online multiplayer modes the series is known for. The game will also feature an updated version of Call of Duty Warzone, a free battle royale game based on the prior Modern Warfare.

Activision showed off gameplay from the Modern Warfare II with a new trailer and an extended video during Summer Game Fest in June. While Call of Duty has seen annual releases since 2006, Activision will reportedly skip a new Call of Duty game in 2023, meaning Modern Warfare II may have a longer lifespan than its predecessors.
