  • Symone Sanders will host a weekend show for MSNBC.
  • Her transition to TV comes after she left Vice President Harris’ office late last year.
  • Sanders pledged to “tell the truth” about the White House while in her new role.

Symone Sanders, a former top Biden White House official, is set to join MSNBC as a weekend host for the network.

Sanders left Vice President Kamala Harris’ office late last year amid a staffing turnover following a disappointing first year for Harris, which saw the vice president reach historically low approval ratings.

Before joining her office, Sanders was a top official on Biden’s presidential campaign. Her decision to join Biden’s orbit was viewed as a major coup given that Sanders had been a key staffer on Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 run.

Sanders is the first senior Biden staffer to receive a TV gig since the president took office. There’s a long history of former political aides transitioning to TV work, a revolving door that became particularly busy during the Trump White House when aides would go to conservative media and vice-versa.

Sanders told The New York Times that her show would be about more than just politics. She also pledged to be truthful about the Biden administration’s work.

“I’m going to tell the truth, and sometimes the truth is critical,” Sanders told the Times. “This administration has its critics, just like everyone does — I have my critics — and we’re going to have those conversations.”
