- The iPhone 13 isn’t compatible with iPhone 12 cases, so you’ll need a new one when you upgrade.
- MagSafe iPhone 13 accessories magnetically attach to — and some even charge — the smartphone.
- We’ve gathered the staples as well as some new accessories for your fresh iPhone 13.
To keep their shiny new iPhone 13 looking fresh, many Apple fans will want to go straight from the shipping box to a protective case or add a MagSafe accessory for magnetic add-ons and charging. This trend will especially pick up following the holiday gifting season.
While the new iPhone 13 line-up has similar dimensions and built-in MagSafe, iPhone 12 cases aren’t compatible. The iPhone 13’s redesigned camera makes the bump at the back a different size, for starters.
Thankfully, several brands have launched a number of iPhone 13 accessories compatible with all four new options from Mini to Pro Max. While a few major brands have yet to announce compatible accessories, early iPhone 13 adapters still have a decent amount of choices for cases as well as chargers and accessories.
Apple iPhone 13 MagSafe Silicone and Leather cases
Apple
Apple’s own silicon cases offer a decent level of protection — protecting the back and sides, with a front lip to prevent screen scratches. The company has, of course, updated its cases to fit with each new model from the iPhone 13 Mini to iPhone 13 Pro Max. The cases use magnets to help properly position MagSafe chargers and accessories. The inside of the case has a soft lining — this is important, since tiny debris that gets inside the case can actually cause scratches. To show off the iPhone 13’s true colors, there’s also a clear version. For another $10, you can opt for the leather version.

Fun-patterned iPhone 13 cases from Casely
Casely
If solid colors aren’t eye-catching enough, Casely has already launched dozens of its patterned cases in iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max compatible sizes. While case features will vary by the one that you choose, many of them are slim yet protect the back and sides and offer a small lip to help protect the front of the screen. If you can’t decide, Casely even has a new mixed pattern case. Many options are also MagSafe compatible.

Apple’s own MagSafe battery pack
Apple
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has the longest battery life yet of any iPhone. But, of course, battery life depends on how the phone is used. Power users — perhaps those using the upgraded camera or new cinema mode for hours — may want to try the MagSafe Battery Pack. Designed by Apple, the MagSafe Battery Pack can charge your iPhone 13 on the go. The wireless magnetic charger attaches to the magnets in the back of the phone. It’s also compatible with MagSafe cases. MagSafe was introduced with the iPhone 12, so it’s not exactly brand new, but it’s worth a look for power-hungry users.

Apple’s iPhone Leather Wallet with MagSafe
Apple
Smartphone wallets mean remembering one less thing when leaving the house. Apple’s new leather wallets attach to the phone using MagSafe magnets. But, the new version also is compatible with “Find My.” That means you can use the Find My tool to find your wallet if it is separated from the phone.

Moment’s smartphone cases and MagSafe tripod adapters
Moment
If you have plans for the iPhone 13’s new cinematic mode, consider Moment’s accessories. The company has already updated its grippy, 6-foot drop rated case to fit the iPhone 13’s different sizes. The case is MagSafe compatible. But, besides easier charging, the case also works with Moment’s earlier MagSafe accessories, from a tripod mount with a hot shoe slot for adding lights to a mount for adding 67mm lens filters.

PopGrips for MagSafe
Popsockets
PopGrips are an inexpensive way to make a smartphone easier to hold. The grip didn’t need to be updated for the new iPhone 13, but if you want to add a grip, you’ll want to consider the MagSafe edition. Working with the iPhone 12 and 13 models’ built-in magnets, it attaches to the phone as well as MagSafe compatible cases. You’ll need to slide it off to charge wireless, but it’s a better option than the stick-on PopSockets that won’t allow you to use MagSafe features as readily.
